The Feather River Chapter of Trout Unlimited is an all-volunteer, conservation-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for and recovering rivers and streams, as well as the trout, steelhead, and salmon that inhabit them. Working with TU staff and community partners, we bring people together to strengthen our trout and salmon fisheries, improve water quality, and enhance community health. Dave Wood is a long-time angler and member of TU, and retired from a career in natural resources management. He’s been on the Feather River TU board for several years and has been active in our Trout in the Classroom program, teaching fly tying and casting to kids and assisting classes with hatching trout eggs in aquariums. He grew up in Colorado, first joined TU in Pennsylvania, and now lives in Quincy CA.

Bill Copren’s staff in the Sierra County Assessor’s Office decided in the late 1990s that he needed to learn how to fly fish since the rivers were all around them. They hired a professional fly fisherman, and the two spent some months on the water. Fly fishing all over the world has been a part of Bill’s life since. He is a member of the FRTU Board of Directors and works with kids with Trout in the Classroom and other teaching efforts.
